Cabernet Sauvignon, Old Vine 2005

The 2005 Cabernet Estate Old Vine Signature Edition was sourced predominantly from the Kestrel View Estate Vineyard. The wine also contains 10% Malbec and 2.5% Merlot and was aged for 22 months in French oak. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up a superb bouquet of pain grille, scorched earth, mineral, violets, black currant, and blackberry. Suave and velvety on the palate, it combines elegance and power with flair. Dense, rich, and lengthy, it will offer a drinking window extending from 2013 to 2025.

The 2005 Raptor Red Signature Edition was sourced from the Kestrel View Estate Vineyard, The blend is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon from vines planted in 1972 and 40% Malbec. The nose displays mineral, earth notes, pepper, black cherry, and black currant aromas leading to a medium to full-bodied wine combining elegance with power. Savory, complex, and intense, this lengthy effort will benefit from 4-6 years of additional bottle age and drink well from 2013 to 2025.

Semillon Ice Wine 2008

The 2008 Semillon Late Harvest Estate is a sweet dessert wine with aromas of melon, tropical fruits, and some botrytis. On the palate it has vibrant acidity, excellent balance, a viscous texture, and outstanding length.

Kestrel’s 2007 Cabernet Franc - Olsen Vineyard offers up a fragrant nose of herbs, incense, Asian spices, lavender, cassis, and black currant. This is followed by a dense, richly fruited, intense Cabernet Franc with several years of aging potential. It will deliver prime drinking from 2013 to 2022, perhaps longer.

Syrah Co-Ferment Estate Winemaker Select 2006

The 2006 Syrah Co-ferment Estate Winemaker Select contains 7% Viognier. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up a sexy bouquet of smoke, espresso, dried herbs, incense, floral notes, blueberry, and black cherry. Medium-bodied, elegant, and complex, on the palate flavors of meat, game, and pepper emerge leading to a lengthy, sweet, and silky finish. This pleasure-bent Syrah will drink well over the next 8-10 years.

Mourvedre 2006

The 2006 Mourvedre Winemaker Select was co-fermented with 19% Syrah and 5% Grenache. The wine was aged in French, American, and Hungarian oak for 16 months. Dark ruby-colored, it offers up an intriguing perfume of smoky underbrush, truffle, tobacco, mulberry, and blueberry. On the palate the wine takes on a slightly baked character. It possesses exceptional extraction and density, moderate structure, and solid length. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

The 2008 Sauvignon Blanc Old Vines was sourced from the Smith-Cerne Vineyard which was planted in 1967. Medium straw-colored, it has strikingly pristine aromas of mineral, acacia, citrus, guava, white peach, and passion fruit. Crisp and vibrant on the palate, it has a creamy texture, superb depth, and a refreshing finish. Unoaked, unblended Sauvignon does not get much better than this.

Syrah 2007

A cool, pretty syrah, this wine’s scents of mocha and smoke adorn a mélange of blackberry, cassis and mint.  The flavors are concentrated and deep, with that mint and fruit giving way to a texture as rich as flourless chocolate cake.  All of this is held in suspension by impressive acidity and textural detail that are rare in Washington syrah these days.”   October 2010

Viognier 2008

The 2008 Viognier was one-third fermented in neutral French oak. It displays a complex bouquet of mineral, lemon grass, passion fruit, jasmine, and citrus. Medium-bodied, crisp, and vibrant, on the palate the oak is totally integrated. It has excellent concentration and a lengthy finish. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
